SQL South West new speaker mentoring program
Why
There seems to be a complete shortage of women speakers in the UK. There were no submissions from women speakers at SQL Saturday Exeter and there have only ever been 4 UK based women speakers at SQL Bits. Because of this I decided that we would set up a Mentoring Programme to encourage new speakers both male and female.
Aims
The SQL South West Mentoring Programme is aimed at getting new speakers into the community and experienced speakers sharing their speaker knowledge and experience.
Who can get involved
Anyone! We are looking for people who would like to try speaking and obviously we are looking for those speakers who are willing to give up some of their precious time to help someone get started.
The Process
Complete the Mentoring Application Form and I will then assign a Mentor to the Mentee, preferably people who don't live too far apart so that if meeting up is required, it's easy to do. Obviously it may take a while to get the programme off the ground and to find Mentors who live in the same area as a Mentee so please bear with us.
